Hi all
I came across this article and I have often been asked how to choose the right probiotics.
I have never written much about Probiotics but I have written about good bacteria especially from yogurt. Here are some of the older entries.
Yogurt magic
Yogurt and its effects
Indian Remedy
Flatulence and Yogurt
Probiotics is the modern version of getting good bacteria. Having good bacteria in the gut is very important because the good bacteria not only helps in the digestion process but also important for overall well-being. You can be assured that if you are not eating or digesting well, you are probably getting sick or your body is getting attack by ailments, and losing the battle.
Having a healthy gut (thus meaning having good bacteria) is very important for both prevention and recovery.
Good bacteria helps to promote:
1. A healthy gastrointenstinal track by inhibiting growth of harmful pathogens
2. promotes bowel movement.. For IBS sufferers, we know how important it is to have good bowel movements.
3. produces digestive enzymes which helps to breakdown food into nutrients, which is then absorbed by our body.
4. directly helps in the absorption of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.
Probiotics is a modern version of getting good bacteria in large quantities. So how to choose the right one?
The effectiveness of probiotics depends on the bacteria strain used, manufacturing and the delivery mechanism. Unfortunately, there is no perfect probiotics. However, you can make sure that the probiotics should follow the following:
1. harmless
2. of human origin
3. resistant to gastric and bile acids.
4. able to adhere to intestinal mucosa (track)
5. able to reproduce
6. able to kill harmful pathogens
7. clinically proven
I guess you have to depend on your pharmacist to help you choose one. I advocate natural methods like making your own yogurt but if you prefer or need a more convenient way, probiotics is a very good alternative.

Dairy contains hormones, pus, blood, antibiotics. Dairy companies lie and say it's 'friendly bacteria probiotics in yogurt' so they can keep torturing cows to make a quick buck. Cows produce dairy for their babies and not humans. That's why female humans produce milk in their breasts for there humans kids and not other creatures.
ReplyDeleteDairy also cause obesity, heart disease, arthritis, migraines, menstrual cramps, etc.
